Sebene Selassie
I am trained as a meditation teacher and a coach and aim to help each client grow into being wise awake „ to make space, uncover possibilities, and bring more ease and joy into their life. I coach and teach with a balance of wisdom, curiosity, care, joy and humor.
I have been studying Buddhism since my early twenties and was the Executive Director of New York Insight Meditation Center. I am very honored to serve on the board of the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies.
I invite you to bring your social, cultural and political experiences with you when they feel relevant to your growth; all aspects of your identities and lived realities are welcome. In fact, I think understanding these forces in our lives are essential to our transformation. As a coach and teacher, I bring a deep awareness of issues related to class, race, gender, and sexuality and the often oppressive effects of dominant culture on our well-being.
I coach people from every walk of life and I am especially skilled at coaching changemakers: people whose passion and commitment to change can often lead to overwhelm and burn out causing them to lose connection with their own art, power, and soul. My passion is bringing to them this type of coaching „ creative, integrated, and transformative.
Whether you are an artist, activist, teacher, social worker, healer, business owner, friend, or parent, I invite you to bring ALL the parts of yourself to your process of transformation.
