Michele Goins
Michele Goins is a senior executive with more than 30 years of leadership experience in the computer, semiconductor and network infrastructure industries. She is a respected leader known for building and managing high performing teams and a track record for achieving business goals in fast-paced, changing environments. Michele has a reputation for being a strategic, big picture thinker, with a broad and deep set of practical cross-functional experience and knowledge.
Michele is currently the President of Asilomar Consulting LLC located in Los Altos, California. She provides advisory services to clients in the areas of Information Technology, Business Operations and Executive Development/Coaching. Michele currently serves as an Operating Consultant with both the Oak Hill Capital Management team as well as with Oak Hill Capital ManagementÍs Portfolio Companies. She is also serves as a member of the Faculty at Santa Clara UniversityÍs Leavey School of Business, with the distinction of ñProfessor of Practiceî.
Michele develops and executes solid plans and processes that are business and customer focused. She is effective at operating in global, virtual team environments where her energy, passion and strong communication and process skills drive results. Her expertise spans information technology, customer care, business transformation, marketing, sales, engineering, quality and operations and includes a proven track record for creating, building, turning-around and launching new technology businesses. In addition, Michele has also led and contributed to several successful acquisition, integrations as well as strategic divestiture activities, during her career.
Michele was most recently Senior Vice-President and Chief Information Officer at Juniper Networks (JNI). During her tenure, she implemented a global IT growth strategy resulting in new global sites and a decrease in overall IT spending of 40%. She delivered not only a mission critical Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and process redesign, but also effectively lead JNIÍs aggressive OEM GTM business model and system/process evolution. Under her leadership, she created global governance models to prioritize enterprise-wide business initiatives and drove dramatic improvements in IT global workforce competence, agility and service delivery. JNI also acquired and fully integrated (process and system) both Ankeena and Trapeze Networks.
As a member of the Executive team at Hewlett-Packard, Michele held a number of positions which demonstrated her ability to effectively lead teams to achieve critical business outcomes. From 2000 to 2007, she served as Vice President and Chief Information Officer of HPÍs Imaging and Printing Group (IPG) business. IPG IT achieved 50% productivity improvement in development and delivery of Consumer Solutions. She led the centralization, standardization and integration process for three print supply groups to achieve global economies of scale. As the IPG CIO, she directed all global IT strategies, systems and resources in support of both IPG as well as for HPÍs Consumer Business Segment. Michele effectively developed transparent and flawless system integrations for all corporate acquisitions, including all consumer and printer assets related to purchase of Compaq Computer.
During her 25 year tenure at HP, Michele also held global executive roles in Marketing, Quality, Acquisition/Integration and Strategic Sales Management. During this time, she worked with in both the Personal Computing System and the Electronic Component/Semiconductor Business Sectors.
Michele attended Santa Clara University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science, Combined Science (BS) degree. She obtained her Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Northeastern University. She earned her Executive Coaching accreditation as an ñIntegral Coachî from the New Ventures West Integral Coaching School in San Francisco.
