Our History

MILESTONES IN OUR HISTORY

1986  •  New Ventures West is founded.

1987  •  Six-month Coaching I programs offered in New York and San Francisco, and soon expanding to Washington DC, Boston, Little Rock and Minneapolis.

1988  •  Coaching to Excellence is designed and offered publicly and to Pacific Bell, Chrysler, and other organizations.

Coaching II is added to the curriculum, followed by Women at Work and a series of other courses.

1989  •  The first free Coaching Roundtable is offered in San Francisco. Roundtables have been offered in San Francisco every quarter since then, and are now also offered in several other US cities.

The quarterly coaching newsletter Distinctions is published for the first time.

1993  •  The first annual Coaching Reunion Weekend is offered in January in San Francisco and Washington D.C. Thus began our tradition of gathering the community each year for renewal and relationship.

1994  •  The Professional Coaching Course (PCC) is first offered in San Francisco.

1996  •  PCC comes to Washington D.C.

1999  •  PCC comes to Ottawa, Canada.

Coaching: Evoking Excellence in Others is published by Butterworth-Heinemann.

The first Master Classes are offered by James Flaherty.

2000  •  The Lauren Coaching Center opens.

The Professional Coaching Course is certified as an ICF Accredited Coach Training Program.

2001  •  NVW certifies two new PCC leaders: Pamela Pritchard and Sarita Chawla.

Twenty coaches participate in the Business Leaders Training to become certified to represent NVW leading coaching programs in organizations.

2002  •  NVW's Graduate Department is formed and the Graduate Pages are created on our website.

The California Board of Behavioral Science certifies NVW as a Continuing Education Provider.

Coaching to Excellence is certified by the ICF as a Continuing Coach Education.

2003  •  PCC comes to Boston.

Integral Coaching Principles is certified by the ICF as a Continuing Coach Education.

2004  •  PCC comes to Chicago.

The six-month coaching program is offered in Cape Town, South Africa.

Integral Leadership, LLC is incorporated.

2005  •  PCC comes to Cape Town, South Africa.

Wendy Palmer joins the NVW Faculty and brings her Conscious Embodiment work to our PCC students.

2006  •  NVW certifies a new PCC leader: Craig O'Flaherty

2007  •  NVW partners with Don Riso and Russ Hudson of the Enneagram Institute to offer telecourses that blend the wisdom of the Enneagram and the practice of Integral Coaching

2008  •  James Flaherty and Sarita Chawla present a 5-day workshop on Integral Development at Shambhala Institute's prestigious summer program "Authentic Leadership in Action."
