Lain Kahlstrom
Lain Kahlstrom is the founder of LK Leadership Development, a coaching practice based in Seattle, WA and Phoenix, AZ. In addition to maintaining a long-term private practice as a coach, she facilitates adult learning in soft-skills courses such as the University of Washington's "Strategic Leadership Program," "The Leadership Map," and "Gaining and Applying Wisdom - Stages of Adult Development." She also mentors students and represents New Ventures West in the Pacific Northwest. She is actively engaged with other communities such as Seattle Integral, the Leadership Institute of Seattle, and Pacific Integral's "Generating Transformative Change," and she continuously confers and trains with leaders and teachers worldwide in integral theory, transformational leadership and human potential.
Lain's work is informed by her training with and/or studying the works of the following teachers:
* Ken Wilber and Terri O'Fallon in Integral Theory and Leadership
* Ronald Heifetz and Otto Scharmer in Leadership and Presencing
* Robert Kegan, William Torbert, Don Beck and Suzanne Cook-Greuter in stages of adult development
* Venita Ramirez, Wendy Palmer and JoAnn Lovascio in somatic therapies and subtle energy practices
* James Flaherty and MaryBeth O'Neill in integral and executive coaching.
Lain's involvement with transformation, adult development and leadership can be traced back to the beginning of her 19-year career in higher education and management. This was her "laboratory" as she experimented with the application of her studies, both for herself and for her colleagues. This was enormously challenging in and of itself, when her personal life chipped in with its own "disorienting dilemmas." This rich history has been woven into the look and feel of Lain's work; her clients appreciate the delicate mix she brings of holding a safe space, and perturbing the system.
Lain takes an integral approach to her work with clients, whether she's working with executives in organizations or with individuals. The work starts with contracting about desired outcomes, which is followed by the custom design of practices, and finally culminates with support and delight as her clients transform.
